Seoul Search: Gangnam

In the Ewha International Exchange Program, there are student volunteers called the PEACE buddies who are assigned a group of International Students to look after during their stay in Korea. There are 4 International Students in my buddy group (including me) and our PEACE buddy is Jinny (3rd from the left) who arranged this Gangnam trip with us. Jinny was cool about us bringing our other friends since there are also times when we couldn’t communicate with each other because of the language barrier. Nonetheless, the trip was fun and we’re really trying our best to relay each other’s stories to those who don’t understand. It feels as if we’re playing “pass the message” but in different languages. Cool, right?

Anyways, we rode the subway to Gangnam which is around 45 minutes from Ewha. The basic fare for the metro is 1250KRW but because Gangnam is pretty far, there is an additional 200KRW to the charge. For the subway station, you have to get what they call T-money which you will load and use to pay for the fare. Our Ewha school ID is very functional since it can also be used as T-money and debit card so we didn’t have to buy the T-money. Just in case, the T-money is available in convenience stores for 3300KRW.11933089_10200788080501804_29268904_nIMG_1477 IMG_1480 IMG_1485 IMG_1486 IMG_1489 IMG_1492 IMG_1493 IMG_1497 IMG_1499 IMG_1501 IMG_1503 IMG_1505 IMG_1511 IMG_1512 IMG_1515 IMG_1516 IMG_1521 IMG_1524 IMG_1525 IMG_1527 IMG_1535Since our Turista Mode is on, we danced to Gangnam style right outside the subway station (no shame LOL). Watch the video HERE.

That’s it for Gangnam!
