Memory lane 2016: Saying Yes to New Adventures

My theme for this year is Say Yes to New Adventures which I believe is appropriate given that I wanted to continue my adventures from JTA. July 2016 also marks the beginning of my senior year and I realized that there are still so much stuff I haven’t tried or experienced. I believe that the mantra gave me courage and helped me grab all the opportunities to learn and grow no matter how uncertain and scary the outcome may be. I took a couple of leaps of faith, and with just the right amount of confidence in myself and support from my loved ones, I can say that 2016 was one heck of an adventure that I said “Yes” to. Hiking – Dobongsan Mt.

Seoul Searching

I was never the athletic or adventurous type – atleast when it involves physical activities. I get tired easily, not to mention that I dislocated my knee cap more than twice. So when my Seoul sisters said that they wanted to hike, I was quick to tell them that I couldn’t come along. But somehow, the universe just has its own way to tell you things. A day before the scheduled hiking trip, I went to the dorm’s kitchenette where a flyer that says “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” caught my attention, and the adrenaline gushed through my veins and I felt excited about the hike (although I had to make sure that my Seoul sisters would wait for me whenever I needed to rest, which surprisingly wasn’t as many times as I imagined during the hike itself).

We went to Bukhansan National Park at around…

Tricia and Sandy’s Chicken Adobo

First installment of #CookingWednesdays

Seoul Searching

IMG_3521Every Wednesday, our class ends at 10:45 am; a little bit too early to retire for the day. And since Bea couldn’t come with us, we decided not to go out. We then decided to cook Adobo, the most famous dish from the PH. Tricia and I went up he hill to buy some ingredients and it was such a fun experience. The trek, rather the hike, was so tiring that we caught ourselves gasping for air as we reached the top of the hill. We went in the grocery store and searched for the ingredients.

IMG_3506We easily spotted the chicken and it was immediately removed from our list. We found the soIMG_3519y sauce but it was a struggle since everything was in Korean. We even asked the staff but to no avail. We then decided to just get the smallest bottle in case we don’t like the taste. The vinegar…

Workin’ the Lily Collins Peg

Disclaimer: I’m not saying that I look anything like Lily Collins here. Her beauty is otherworldly, there is no question to that.

I first fell in love with Lily Collins when I watched the movie Stuck in Love, where she is paired with another one of my favorites, Logan Lerman. I thought she was gorgeous so I started looking at her pictures in the internet and examined which of her features make her stand out among the rest of the equally stunning Hollywood stars.

The Lily Collins peg is actually pretty simple: Full eyebrows + Red lipstick.

I never tried using an eyebrow pencil before so I don’t know if I used it correctly haha (I accept constructive criticism in the comment section. Keyword: constructive). I used my mom’s Bobbi Brown eyebrow pencil and my sister’s red Maybelline lipstick.

Did I achieve the look? Or better yet, did I pull it off? Let me know!

For this year’s Halloween, I decided to spend the day with the company of my high school besties in BGC. We went there at around 4pm since the lighting is more dramatic when the sun is about to set. We weren’t able to get a lot of barkada shots since we were all hungry by 5:30 and the sun is already shying away from the sky. Nonetheless, we spent the rest of the evening catching up and crossing out a few things off the BFF bucket list.

How did your Halloween go?

Modern Barbie

One thing we all learned from Barbie is that Black and Pink go well together. This doesn’t just apply for glossy black and fuchsia pink but for any shade of black and pink as well. In fact, this combination can still work well with other colors provided that the black and pink will stand out to achieve that timeless Barbie sophistication.

Cristina’s 18th

It’s about time I post something recent haha! Last Saturday night I went to the debut of one of my closest friends, Cristina, along with our other blockmates. Angie and I are from the south so we made sure to leave early to avoid heavy Saturday traffic. We’re also not familiar with the place but thanks to GPS we didn’t get lost!

Sucks to be behind the camera sometimes because you’re not included in most of the (cute) photos. 😦 I had to take a selfie with the big cam just to get into the picture!

Good thing some of my friends volunteered to take some of the photos so I have a few decent ones, yey!

One of the highlights of the night is when Cristina distributed the souvenirs. She wrote and painted different quotes for each guest and had them all framed. They were super neat that my sister was surprised when she found out that Cristina made them herself! Hahaha we all loved it so much!

Here are more photos from the rest of the night.

Thank you Cristina! We had so much fun.

Thrift Shopping

I remember my classmates freaking out when I told how much this whole outfit costs. They said they never would have guessed that absolutely everything I’m wearing here is a product of my thrift shopping! You see I really love dressing up and I like my closet to have variety. As much as I would like to run to the mall and buy as much clothes that I want, I’m afraid I don’t have enough money for that. Also, it would be impractical to keep on buying clothes and stack them in your closet for a really long time. As a solution, I thrift shop! You would be surprised that there are actually a lot of stores in the mall that sell very affordable clothes with decent quality. Patience is the key!

The plain white shirt I’m wearing here is from Tiendesitas. Basic white tops are a must since you can pair them with almost anything and be sure that it will always work out! I tend to overuse this shirt especially on lazy casual outfits to school or to a spontaneous hang outs with friends. I got it for 100 pesos. Good deal isn’t it?

This pair of shorts is from Greenhills. I bought it for only 150 pesos. I think it went down from 300 since I bought a lot more from that shop. Haha. The snakeskin necklace is from one of my Divisoria trips with my sister. It costs 50 pesos.

Meanwhile, this pair of shoes is from SM. I don’t know what they call them but they’re the ones with the “2 for 399” promo.

The shades are a little more expensive though. They’re from Sunnies Studios (previously called Sunnies by Charlie), for 499. But of course you can opt to buy more affordable sunnies but I personally go for the good quality ones since I don’t really buy sunnies all the time.

You see, fashion doesn’t have to be expensive. It’s just about finding the right places to buy.

Let me know what you think! Xxx Tricia

Some of my blockmates are changing their profile pictures into this

Judging from how it looks, I’m guessing it’s edited by the kontrabida of my life, Angie.
I’ve seen gimmicks like this before but I still felt extremely kilig when I see that they’re doing it for me. Also, I enjoy reading the captions. They’re mostly short, simple, and sincere. I feel like I’m having a real debut celebration where these friends are called out one-by-one to give out their messages. I feel so loved. Thank you blockmates!

Time check: 12:39am
I just finished reading a yahoo article called ”10 Ways to Reinvent Your Look”, perfect for my crossing-from-childhood-years-to-mature-years day! HAHAHA I think I’m ready to sleep.

We started the day by celebrating mass where, coincidentally, we were asked to be the offerers of. Then, we went straight to our second home, Glorietta-Greenbelt, and had lunch at Italianni’s which is one of my mom’s favorite restaurants.

Since everyone’s finished giving me their gifts (I will blog about them very soon), we went shopping for my baby sister, who’s celebrating her 10th birthday 5 days later, instead. We went to Greenbelt and entered different kiddie stores. However, the pieces from Gingersnaps were the ones tat caught her attention. There she bought a cute tank top paired with a printed leggings. She also bought a pair of shoes from Toms!

I thank God for this wonderful day spent with the most important people in my life. Also, thank you family and friends for all the birthday greetings! You all made me feel very special.

Xxx, Tricia
