WEARING: From Greenhills top, Next Jeans shorts
My parents are very conservative and traditional. They are very strict as well, especially my mom, in terms of night outs, words, company, and even clothing. Long story short, my mom hates shorts as short as this. It’s not really THAT short in a way that the pockets are revealed and butt cheeks are exposed. In her eyes, though, it is very short. That is mainly the reason why if you noticed, all my shorts are considerably long. Not really because I want them that long, but because my mother will object whenever I fit them in malls, and will definitely not let me wear them in case I insisted and bought them anyway. That would just put them to waste and she’ll surely be upset as well so I conditioned myself to make sure my pair of shorts is acceptable in my mom’s eyes. Now when I got this shorts she wasn’t very happy. She told me that I can only wear them at home or she’ll throw them away. Being the obedient and good (ehem) daughter that I am, I agreed to her terms. This pair of shorts has not seen light since 2009, I swear. Recently though, I got this crop top and I instantly knew that pairing it with my usual pair of shorts will only ruin its simple yet fancy account. My mind searched my closet for what could possibly reveal its complex simplicity and it raced through every corner of the cabinets, ending up to the least used bottom wear. I was hesitant of course, of both the idea of upsetting my mom and the possible discomfort I could get since I haven’t worn anything of this length outside home. But the desire of putting on a good outfit was more powerful than the good girl inside of me (if I must admit), and hence the rebel outfit made its way to my blog. A lot of people were impressed by how a simple shirt could make such a statement. The secret of course is finding its right match. The discomfort is there of course, knowing inside of me that I disobeyed a rule that I have been strictly following for years. There were moments that days where I would look around me, searching for my mom’s angry eyes threatening to burn this pair of shorts until it were ashes. However small it may sound, I felt rebellious that day. And even though I felt satisfied for pulling off an unexpectedly amazing outfit, guilt rushed through me that night where I promised to myself that never again will I wear this shorts to school or anyway outside home. The satisfaction of being a fashionista is hell nothing close to the satisfaction of pleasing your mom. Sometimes, we learn things the hard way. And this time, I learned that I love my mom too much to upset her and break free from the simple rules she asks me to follow. Moms may be overprotective sometimes, a little demanding even, but this just made me realize that no matter how different we are, in choice of clothing above all other things, I love her and I will respect her sometimes annoying traditional means of upbringing. For through this that she raised a kid too scared to upset her, out of too much love and respect. I am sorry mom. This is the last time you will ever see this pair, I promise.
WEARING: From Greenhills Top, Tachionlineshop (IG) velvet skirt, Pearl Detachable Collar/ Bib Necklace
This plain sweater can be used in numerous ways. The thing with sweaters is that they can easily match anything you pair them with. The downside though, is that we live in a tropical country and sweaters aren’t advisable unless you want to sweat like hell. But since we consider December as sweater weather, it would be the best time to bring out your stock of sweaters because they’ll be most useful this time of the year (or will it be? last time I checked the temperature is 31 C). But if you’re staying under the sun please spare yourself from heat stroke by wearing something light, sweaters are a no no trust me. I’ve received a lot of praises and inquiries about where I got this adorable blue velvet skirt that I’m wearing. I found it in an online shop in instagram sold for a VERY affordable price, very much unlike those we can buy in Topshop etc. What’s even greater about it is that the velvet quality is considerably good. Who would have thought that good quality velvet skirts are no more threat to your savings? The bib necklace worked its way to be quite noticeable herself for adding glitz to the plain sweater. Btw, this entire outfit (excluding the shoes) can be obtained for as low as 630 pesos 😉 Good luck on everyone’s Christmas shopping!
WEARING: Liz Claiborne Top, Heartstrings bag
A comfortable get-up for school – basic top, high-waisted shorts, and sneakers.
This is the type of clothes you wear when you know you have activities involving staying under the sun and more walking than usual in school. We had a scavenger hunt for our Environmental Science class this day which meant we have to go around the campus to look for some objects and take clear photos of them. Imagine how hard it would be to bend over had I worn a skirt that day! On days like this, style does not have to suffer to achieve comfort. They can both exist simultaneously by wearing the right pieces that enable you to move around freely and confidently and still look stylish throughout the day.
WEARING: Petit Monde romper, Kicks by SM shoes
This cute plaid romper is so comfortable to wear! Rompers with a nice print like this is an outfit you put on effortlessly and still be confidently stylish all day. The same goes for this nude booties which complemented my romper well, don’t you think?
WEARING: Apartment 8 skater skirt
Recently, skater skirts have been so popular that many stores decided to sell them in different colors, prints, and fabric. My favorite of them all though, is Apartment 8’s version. The color is so vibrant which makes it more appealing to the eyes. Its plainness makes it easier to style since it will go well with anything. The fabric, on the other hand, is its most remarkable attribute. The cloth is in its finest quality that certainly out-stands any other skater skirts that I know of. It may be a little pricey but along with its price tag is the guarantee that a few years from now, the material of this skater skirt will be as it is in the present, unlike low quality versions that may be stretched or faded by that time. And because skater skirts are one of the easiest pieces to style, they’ll surely be going around the markets for a long time.
WEARING: Landmark top, Aerosoles flats
I’ve been avoiding midi skirts all my life because of the idea that they will make me look old. Fashion indeed is unpredictable. The midi skirts I’ve been avoiding are now an essential part of my closet. This denim midi skirt is a gift from my aunt a couple of years ago. It has always been in my closet and I never bothered to look for anything that will probably go well with it. It never crossed my mind that one day it’ll be a keeper, much more that it’s actually denim and can easily be played around with. There is also a cute floral detail on one of its sides that adds a feminine vibe to the dark denim color. Hope you like it. 💕
I may not be as white as Snow White, but who is stop me from dressing like one?
This outfit may not be exactly the same as Snow White’s but don’t the colors, the apples, the bow, and the vibe remind you of Snow White? Or is it just me..
I don’t think I need to explain the title of this post.
It was a Wednesday and I woke up feeling all girly and mean..
Just kidding! Harhar I’m funny. Okay maybe not. 😦
On a more serious note, this ensemble is actually very simple. The key is matching your clothes with the right pieces depending on your agenda for the day. The pink inside my cardigan is just a simple tshirt. I thought matching it with a skirt of the same color and tint will make it very light and boring.
So to make the look a bit more sophisticated, I wore a neutral-colored cardigan and added a black, white, and gold combination necklace.
To match my cardigan, I wore these cute pair of booties and pinned my hair in such an artsy manner with a clip of the same color.
WEARING: ZARA top, BLACK SHEEP skirt
HYPE this on lookbook.
What do you think? 🙂
